Tibetan Market

← Dehradun

AreaOpposite Parade Ground, near Clock Tower

A run of stalls along the Parade Ground, minutes from the Clock Tower, kept entirely by Dehradun's Tibetan community, which has lived in the valley since 1959 with its centre at Clement Town. The stock that matters is wool: handwoven sweaters, shawls, stoles and blankets at prices no branded shop matches, with handicrafts, jewellery and wind chimes filling the gaps between. From November to February the strip expands into a full winter market. Take the time to feel the weave before settling on a price, and bargain in good humour.
