Phulkari

The state's own craft shop, on the Sector 17 plaza near the fountain, run by the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation so that artisans' work is sold directly. Prices are fixed, which removes the whole question of whether a number is fair: phulkari dupattas and suits, juttis (flat embroidered slippers), shawls, carpets, pottery, paintings and sheesham-wood furniture all carry tags. Nothing here is a bargain hunt, and that is rather the point. Open daily, roughly 10 am to 6 pm.
