Gurudwara Amb Sahib

← Chandigarh

AreaPhase 8, Mohali

A gurudwara (Sikh house of worship) grown around a mango tree. By tradition the seventh Guru, Har Rai, answered the devotion of Bhai Kuram here and a tree bore ripe fruit out of season; 'amb' is Punjabi for mango, and mangoes still shade the courtyard. It is the main historical Sikh shrine on the Mohali side of the tricity: quiet on weekdays, full on gurpurabs and sangrand days, with langar, the free community meal, open to everyone. Cover your head, dress modestly, shoes off. Fateh Burj is close enough to pair.
