Government Museum and Art Gallery
In Sector 10 stands the Government Museum and Art Gallery, one of the few museums in the world housed in a building designed by Le Corbusier himself, with his signature ramps, stilts, and controlled daylight.
The collection is unexpectedly strong for a young city: a famous set of Gandhara sculptures (Greco-Buddhist art that came here after Partition, when Lahore's museum collection was divided), Pahari and Rajasthani miniature paintings, and a gallery of modern Indian art. The adjacent City Museum tells the story of how Chandigarh was designed, original sketches and master plans included.
Practical: closed on Mondays; open roughly 10:00–16:30 other days; the ticket is symbolic (a few tens of rupees). It pairs naturally with the Rose Garden nearby in Sector 16.
