Upasana Design Studio

A fashion studio working at the opposite speed to the industry. Founded in 1997, Upasana builds its clothing on hand-woven and hand-worked Indian textiles, and several of its lines carry long-running social and craft-revival projects behind them. The studio and its boutique stand inside the township and are open to visitors, so you see a little of the design side - cloth, samples, people at work - and not only the finished rail. It is regularly named as a reference point for ethical Indian fashion, which makes it worth a stop with no intention of buying anything.
