A long street through the old city and the broadest mix Ajmer offers in one walk: garments, silver, woodwork, miniature paintings and Nagra shoes, the traditional Rajasthani slippers, all inside a few hundred metres. The larger shops mostly work at fixed prices while the stalls do not, so what you pay depends on which side of the doorway you are standing. Open roughly 10:00 to 21:00, though most places shut for a long lunch break through the worst of the afternoon heat; go in the morning or after five.
