Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra
A roofless hall of columns where no two pillars match: they were taken from an earlier Sanskrit college and from temples, then set to carry a mosque begun in 1192 on the orders of Qutb-ud-din Aibak and finished around 1199. Iltutmish added the seven-arched calligraphic screen in 1213, and it is the screen that holds the eye: stone cut as finely as script on paper. The name means shed of two and a half days, usually explained by a fair or an urs, the anniversary of a saint's passing, that lasted that long. ASI-protected, free, roughly 6:00 to 19:00.
Ten minutes above the Dargah and almost empty, the earliest mosque architecture in India
