Tomb of Mariam-uz-Zamani
Akbar's Rajput empress Mariam-uz-Zamani (Harkha Bai, popularly called Jodha Bai) was the mother of Jahangir and the only wife buried beside Akbar. Her son turned a Lodi-era pleasure pavilion of 1495 into her mausoleum between 1623 and 1627, which is why this is the rare major Mughal tomb with no dome at all: instead it is ringed by octagonal chhatris, open domed kiosks on pillars. It sits a kilometre from Akbar's tomb on the Mathura road, ASI-ticketed with tickets sold online, and it is usually near-empty. A Sikandra half-day with Guru ka Tal absorbs it without effort.
The empire's most powerful empress lies ten minutes from Akbar, under no dome and almost no visitors
